21st Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union

The European Union Center of California announces its 21th annual Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union. This is the oldest and largest academic conference in the United States dedicated to undergraduate research on European Union topics.
The primary purpose of this conference is to enhance undergraduate training in and knowledge of the European Union and US-European relations. In addition, the aim of the conference is to allow students with expertise in different areas to interact with each other as well as with faculty, foster inter-campus cooperation, and recognize the excellent work achieved by students.
This conference is hosted by the European Union Center of California, Scripps College.

Topics and Paper Format
Students may pursue a wide range of topics that reflect their interest, expertise, and past research. Topics may deal with any aspect of European integration or transatlantic relations. Papers can be about the EU, a particular country within the EU, or the EU’s relationship with outside countries. Final papers should be approximately 10-15 pages double-spaced (not including references). Papers should not exceed 25 pages. Papers should be submitted using APA format (including tables, charts, figures, references, footnotes, and section titles).
Conference Format
Students will present and discuss their research in a panel format, each panel being composed of three to five student papers. Each presentation will last about 10-15 minutes followed by questions and a discussion moderated by a faculty member. The conference will include a keynote address. At the conclusion of the conference, faculty participants will nominate and select the best papers of the conference. Selected papers will be published in a special volume of conference proceedings.
Conference Journal
The Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference Journal on the European Union is an open access journal and compiles outstanding research papers by undergraduate students presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union. Typically 8-12 of the best papers are selected for publication by participating faculty discussants and the EU Center staff. Awards
In addition to publication in the Conference Journal, the EU Center of California is pleased to offer special travel & study awards for the top two papers and/or presentations.
Conference Fees and Travel Expenses
There is no registration fee to attend the conference. The EU Center of California will also cover hotel room for 2 nights and conference meals for accepted participants. Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel.
