The
American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) is a
non-profit program that implements legal reform programs in roughly
60 countries around the world. ABA ROLI has nearly 700 professional
staff working abroad and in its Washington, D.C. office. ABA ROLI’s host
country partners include judges, lawyers, bar associations, law
schools, court administrators, legislatures, ministries
of justice and a wide array of civil society organizations, including
human rights groups.
SUMMARY
The
ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) is currently seeking an intern
for its Development Division. The intern will assist with ABA ROLI’s
development initiatives, with a specific focus on research, monitoring,
and administration. This internship requires a commitment of 25
hours/week (over the course of either 4 or 5 business days per week)
during the period May 20 - August 16, 2013. The intern
will report to ABA ROLI’s Development Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Tracking pertinent U.S. and foreign government and foundation grant opportunities;
-Updating the ABA ROLI Portal and the GiftWorks donor database;
-Helping conduct research on potential donors for an upcoming event, as well as for programmatic work in general;
-Assisting in the development of capacity statements for the various thematic areas;
-Providing administrative support to the division.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Graduate student or undergraduate student with relevant background;
-Strong research and writing skills;
-A background in development or fundraising is highly desirable;
-Some knowledge of rule of law and international development is helpful.
