Education Abroad is excited to announce the CIEE Global Scholars Grant for one University of Maryland student to study through the CIEE Open Campus Program in spring 2017. Worth $10,000, the grant covers part of the cost of attendance the CIEE Open Campus Program. This engaging, customized academic program divides students’ time between a combination of the four CIEE Global Institutes, located in Berlin, London, Paris, and Rome. Students enroll in specific tracks, including Business, Communication and New Media, Health Sciences, International Relations and Political Science, Language Literature and Culture, and Multidisciplinary studies. The Global Institute accentuate the academics with extracurricular professional development and community engagement opportunities, helping students to connect to their host communities and cultures. So far, a number of academic departments, including GVPT, IR, SPHL and SOCY, are evaluating course syllabi for UMD equivalencies.
Preference for the CIEE Global Scholars Grant applications goes to students who have financial aid, and who are of an identity or community that has been historically underrepresented in study abroad. The application deadline is at the close of business on Wednesday, September 28th. Additional requirements include:
- 3.0 Minimum GPA
- Willingness to attend three of the four Global Institutes during spring 2017
- Participate in the CIEE Global Scholars Online learning platform
