The Office of Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) is seeking to hire a motivated, detail-oriented, current college student or recent graduate wishing to gain Capitol Hill internship experience in an exciting Washington, D.C. office.
Congressional Intern responsibilities include answering phones, researching legislation, attending virtual hearings and briefings, and answering constituent letters on various issues before the House. Interns will also assist in various administrative tasks as needed. As a result, the intern will learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.
The term of this internship will be from September 1, 2022 – mid-December 2022. There are 2 types of internships, which are listed below.
Paid full-time internships: Must work at least 30 hours a week. A competitive stipend will be offered, as well as a monthly transit benefit towards the Metro and Metrobus.
For academic credit only (FACO) internship: Strictly reserved for college students who will earn college credit as a result of their internship. FACO internships are unpaid, and will consist of 20 – 30 hours of work per week.
Typical hours for all internships are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, although hours may be flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules.
