PRRI offers research internship opportunities during the Spring 2022 semester to outstanding students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Research interns will aid in all aspects of the research process, including the development of survey questionnaires, data analysis, and the production of research reports. This is a paid internship ($20/hour) and may qualify for course credit, depending on the candidate’s institution.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in all research team projects and activities, including team meetings – you will be a full member of the team!
- Conduct background research for research reports
- Assist with survey design and writing survey reports
- Learn Stata and how to conduct survey data analysis
- Produce survey deliverables, including toplines, banners, reports, and media requests
- Number check all deliverables
- Assist with brainstorming and writing blog posts for PRRI website on topics of interest
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in political science, religious studies, psychology, journalism, communications, or related field; for undergraduate applicants, students in their junior or senior year preferred
- Interest in religion, politics, and policy issues
- Strong communication skills and detail-oriented
- Ability to learn quickly, work both independently and with a team, and manage time well
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Prior course work or experience working with data is a plus, but not required

Internship Dates:
This is an internship for the spring semester of 2023. Based on mutual agreement, the intern should be able to work 10-25 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. Please indicate how many hours you want to work per week in your cover letter. Specific work hours will be determined between the intern and their supervisor at the time of on-boarding. Arrangements for office and/or virtual work will be determined at the time of on-boarding.

- Cover letter that addresses why you are interested and discusses any relevant coursework or experience (maximum 1 page),
- Sample of a short (less than 5 pages) paper written by you that demonstrates an aptitude to synthesize a summary report on a particular topic (a paper you have written for a class is welcome), and
- One letter of reference from a professor at your institution (maximum 1 page).
