The office is looking for candidates with a background in history, political science, library science, and art history. Our goal is to foster interest in the fields of public and institutional history, archival science, and museum studies; and to provide a behind-the-scenes experience for visiting students.

Interns may assist with the following tasks, including:

  • historical and biographical research
  • educational content creation and outreach
  • archival and object processing
  • object, photo, and record preservation
  • curatorial content creation
  • other special projects as assigned

The intern must be highly motivated, collaborative, and possess excellent research, communication, and computer skills. The ideal candidate will have research experience; an interest in political history, archives, visual materials; and good writing and outreach skills.

Availability

The Office is seeking an intern to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with a potential for an in-person or hybrid schedule. This internship is unpaid; however, interns may work with the intern coordinator to accommodate scheduling relating to potential academic or work requirements. We are located in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
