"7th Annual conference for Good Governance"
at George Mason University on Friday-April 12, 2013.
The theme of this year's conference is ""Why Democracy"--- Why is Democracy a good/not good model for government?" We hope to provide a forum where we...
First, allow International Relations students to be exposed to the many
different views of our theme outside of a traditional classroom setting.
We hope this conference will help to make students aware of their
strong personal bias coming from a developed,
powerful democracy and grant them insight into other branches of
thought.
Second, our speakers are coming from a variety of fields; they are ambassadors,
military leaders, policy makers, professors, and other researchers.
This will be an opportunity not only for students to gain valuable
insight into the arena
of international politics today, but also receive aid in vital
career/academic decision making. Students will be able to identify
through the presentations and answers of people with diverse
backgrounds, and this identification will help them to decide what
careers they may want to pursue, and what areas of study they wish to
undertake.
This conference
is an all day event broken up into many sessions. Speakers
will present their material and have a brief panel discussion among
other dignitaries to answer student questions. In the past we have had
members of congress, ambassadors from other countries,
and numerous scholars from throughout the world attend.
Some past attendees have been the Ambassador of Botswana Tebelelo
Seretse , Former US Ambassador to Thailand Eric John, former President of Russia Michael Gorbachev, etc.)
