Last
fall, students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison founded the
Bipartisan Issues Group or the BIG. While the founding
members were of opposing political parties, we found that we were each
distraught over the important issues our elected officials have failed
to resolve. Therefore, it is our responsibility to become agents for
change to formulate solutions to the problems
before our generation.
Members
of the BIG have been flown to New York and Washington D.C. to speak
with national leaders such as Newark Mayor Corey Booker,
former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, and Vice Presidential nominee Paul
Ryan to ensure Millennials have a seat at the negotiating table. We have
hosted events that have been featured by local and national news
organizations.
The group is now on three campuses and we are quickly continuing our expansion. If you are interested in founding a chapter, I
would like to talk about the next steps with you. Please email me, Alex Holland, cofounder and chairman of the Bipartisan Issues Group, at themadisonbig@gmail.com.
