Dear students of international development or international affairs,
The Center for Values in International Development is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, which is intended to serve as a pragmatic bridge between the international development ethics community, and the international relief & development practitioner community. We have a deep interest in fostering on our website a substantive and engaging dialogue between those at each “end” of the bridge. With that goal in mind, we would be very pleased to receive short articles or blogs (600 to 1500 words), or podcasts up to 15 minutes that address – from a student’s viewpoint – some of the important moral and ethical issues and concerns in international relief & development.
Examples of the topics that are trending now among practitioners include: (a) democratic values; (b) the decolonization and localization of foreign assistance; (c) gender equality/equity and feminism in international development; (d) empowerment; (e) inclusive development; (f) climate justice; (g) the ethics and impact on relief & development of the Covid-19 pandemic; (h) transformational leadership in an age of growing authoritarianism, and (m) new priorities for USAID and/or the World Bank starting in 2022.
Feel free to contact me with any further questions at troy@centerforvalues.org. Articles should be submitted to our President, at chloe@centerforvalues.org. We encourage you to share this solicitation for articles more widely among your classmates and friends.
