The National Endowment for Democracy, America’s leading foundation for freedom in support of democratic activists, civil society organizations, independent media, and other enterprises, seeks a motivated, energetic, organized, and resourceful Program Assistant to join a fast-paced Global Programs team. This position is based in Washington, DC.
Position Summary:
The Program Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic support to the Global program staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Global team with general administrative duties.
- Assist with intake, processing, and distribution of grant proposals.
- Maintain the team calendar, schedule internal meetings, and monitor deadlines.
- Maintain and track internal budgets and generate data for team planning purposes.
- Help to organize events and meetings.
- Respond to general inquiries regarding the proposal process.
- Attend and report on relevant meetings and other events.
- Conduct research on current political developments, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, History, or a related discipline is required;
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in an office environment;
- Administrative support experience;
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of democracy and human rights as well as civil society issues;
- Experience studying and/or working abroad is desirable;
- Experience working with databases and analyzing statistics;
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task;
- A high degree of organization and initiative;
- Works well in a team environment.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.
