Summer Capitol Hill Internships

The Washington, DC office of Congressman Timothy Bishop (D-NY) is currently seeking full time Interns for our summer program. Interns should be comfortable answering phones, giving capitol tours, sorting mail, and helping out the staff by attending hearings or briefings. Strong writing skills are necessary. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, creative and self-motivated person to join the team of one of Congress’s most prolific, progressive, and influential voices. The intern will serve as a critical member of the team helping brainstorm ideas, concepts, and projects. The work will involve exposure to national, state, and local media, particularly advocating for civil rights and covering technological developments. ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN -
The Majority staff of the Senate Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management, the Federal Workforce, and the District of Columbia is seeking current college students or recent college graduates for an unpaid administrative summer internship.  The jurisdiction of the Subcommittee includes federal workforce personnel systems, benefits, rights, and protections; management and efficiency of federal programs; national security staffing; the District of Columbia; and other issues. The administrative intern’s primary duties will focus on office support such as answering telephones, tracking news articles related to the Subcommittee’s work, and completing tasks assigned by Subcommittee staff.  Typical staff-assigned tasks include attending hearings, drafting memoranda, and summarizing reports.  The internship will offer individuals an opportunity to learn Senate procedure with a focus on the Committee process. Ideal candidates must be able to work at least 30 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks, as well as be professional, reliable, organized, and have strong interpersonal skills.  Although internships are unpaid, academic credit can be arranged if your institution allows it.  Please e-mail a cover letter and resume to senate_employment@saa.senate.gov indicating job referral number in the subject line.
