Internship Opportunity with the APMA

Internship Position Description

The Health Policy and Practice internship with APMA provides opportunities to:

* Gain knowledge about state and federal policy issues affecting physicians including Medicare and Medicaid.

* Develop appreciation for state and federal policymaking process

* Understand how private healthcare delivery and financing systems policies affect physicians.

* Assist in coordinating programs and meetings that educate physicians on emerging health policy and reimbursement practices.

ABOUT APMA

The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), located in Bethesda, MD, is the
nation's leading and recognized professional organization, serving a membership of
more than 12,000 doctors of podiatric medicine (podiatrists). Podiatrists are physicians
and surgeons qualified by their education, training, and experience to diagnose and
treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and related structures of the lower leg.

Internship Responsibilities

The intern will be assigned projects in the following areas: Medicare, Medicaid, coding,
private insurance, hospital privileges and medical staff.

Positions Available

One internship position is available per academic semester. Interns may choose to receive academic credit or stipend.

Time Commitment

Minimum of 15 hours per week on-site at APMA Headquarters.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
at an accredited university, have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours, and have
outstanding academic credentials.
