The Boren Scholarship is aimed at undergraduates (US citizens) who want to study abroad for one or two semesters (preferably) in 2015-16 in non-traditional regions and countries, and who are interested in learning the languages of those areas. Eligible regions include Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. (Boren Scholarships MAY NOT be used for study in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.) Boren Scholarships for 2015-16 may be used for study abroad in Summer 2015, Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016. More details are provided below.The UMD deadline to apply for the Boren Scholarship will be January 23, 2015.
