Are you a Pell Grant recipient and U.S. citizen planning to study abroad in summer 2020, fall 2020, or AY 2020-21?
You may be eligible to apply for the U.S. State Department’s Gilman Scholarship, which provides up to $5,000 for study abroad and up to $8,000 if you are studying a critical need language. In the last three years, 107 UMD undergraduate students have won Gilman Scholarships!
Attend one of our upcoming information sessions and you'll get access to our ELMS Gilman resource site, which includes samples of successful application essays. We'll also let you know how you can earn an automatic $1,000 study abroad grant from the UMD Education Abroad office for completing a Gilman application!
IMPORTANT: To receive the UMD EA grant, you must participate in your study abroad program.
