Applications are now open for theLaney Graduate School's Summer Opportunity for Academic Research program.Apply by January 29, 2020The LGS-SOAR Program (May 26 – July 31), is a 10-week residential summer program where research fellows conduct full-time research and are mentored by their Faculty Mentor and teams of postdocs, research technicians, librarians, graduate students, and other undergraduates. SOAR scholars receive a housing award for residence on the Emory campus and a stipend to support their full-time attention to research training and professional development.The program is unique in that all scholars will be from historically underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds in graduate education. If your applying scholar is financially sponsored by another funding mechanism or program please contact me so we can ensure all documentations are collected to ensure a smooth financial transition.The program is geared to introduce talented, potential Laney Graduate School Scholars to a vast skillset that includes:
- Communicating research to a variety of audiences
- Problem solving
- Interpreting results
- Participating in novel research
- Navigating difficult ethical situations
- Network building
- Presenting their work (Symposium Style Capstone Experience)
EligibilityApplicants must be on track to graduate between December 2020 and June 2023 and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.ApplicationA complete application will include items such as a transcript, statement of purpose, application form, letter of support and more.
