2023 Communication Internship
A Maryland Delegate is seeking a Communications Intern to assist with daily operation of their Annapolis
office during the Legislative session. This internship will allow for a hands-on experience with local and
state legislative process with flexible scheduling. The Legislative Session begins on January 11, 2023 and
ends on April 10, 2023. Interns will be required to work 2-3 days a week. All work will take place at the
Annapolis office. Interns will receive a stipend depending on the number of days works. The first half of
the stipend will be paid in the middle of the session and the second half will be paid at the end of the
session.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
• Strong interest in the legislative process and state and local politics
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong research and computer skills (MS Office, etc.) project management skills a plus
• Ability to effectively communicate with all co-workers, and external parties and handle
confidential matters
• Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
• Ability to problem solve and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team setting and can work independently when projects are due
Responsibilities
• Draft social media posts for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms
• Maintain updates to website and draft new online content
• Track digital trends within political space and other related industries
• Create a content calendar to systemically post to platforms
• Edit documents for content, grammar, and style
• Support events planning, and execution day of event
