How to Find an Internship Workshop

Not sure where to start with your internship search? Or, do you
feel like you are at a standstill and unsure about the next steps in your
search? To help you with your internship search, we will discuss:
- Specific
resources available to research internship opportunities in non-profit,
government and corporate sectors
- Quick
tips on making a positive first impression on resumes and during
interviews
- Strategies
to connect with UMD alumni working within your intended career field
This
workshop is a collaboration between the University Career Center & The
President's
Promise and Transfer Student Programs through Letters and Sciences. You
do not need to be a
transfer student in order to attend this workshop.
Google Internships & Summer Programs
BOLD Internship
Application Due: December 1,
2014
The Building Opportunities for
Leadership & Development (BOLD) Internship Program is designed to provide
exposure into the technology industry for students who are historically
under-represented in this field. Google invites students to join us for a
unique summer experience, including an 11-week paid internship, personal and
professional development programming, executive speakers, mentoring, and
community-building.
Audience:
Juniors
BOLD Discovery Program
Application Due: March
1, 2015
The Building Opportunities for
Leadership and Development (BOLD) Discovery program is a two-day interactive
summit for first-year students who are traditionally underrepresented in the
technology sector. Attendees will get an inside look at Google's organizational
structure, business operations and culture.
Audience: Freshmen
BOLD Immersion Program
Application Due: March
1, 2015
Overview: The
Building Opportunities for Leadership and Development (BOLD) Immersion
program gives second-year students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a
culture where great minds, cutting-edge technology and smart business
intersect to make a difference-each and every day.
Audience: Sophomores
AdCamp
Application Due: March
1, 2015
Overview: AdCamp
offers a collaborative curriculum focused on Google's advertising sales and
services operations, an overview of Google's ad products and insight into the
industry. Participants will get the opportunity to meet with Googlers and
interns, compete in a case competition, participate in social activities and
get an inside look into helping small and medium businesses thrive.

National LGBTQ Task
Force
Media and Public
Relations Internship-Paid internship
To Apply: Send resume and a
cover letter to jamaro@thetaskforce.org
describing how your experience ans talents would contribute to the work of
the National LGBTQ Task Force.
The intern will assist the National
LGBTQ Task Force with drafting press materials, copy-editing, coordinating
press events, press outreach, and other communications projects as needed.

The Washington Center Intern and Scholarship Program
There
has been an increase in scholarships for Maryland students attending public
insitutions during the Spring and Summer 2015 semesters.
