Finding an Internship @ the Career & Internship Fair
Monday, October 13: 4-5 p.m. 
University Career Center (3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing)

To help students prepare for the upcoming fairs, we are hosting a seminar about how to make a great impression during a career & internship fair.  Come learn about:
  • How to research which employers fit the type of internship(s) you are seeking
  • How to make a positive first impression when introducing yourself to employers at the fair
  • Successful networking tips and tricks to use throughout the fair
  • Strategies to follow-up with employers after the fair


Internship Interviews: How to Stand Out from the Competition
Tuesday, October 14: 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

When searching for internships, it is important to effectively articulate your experiences in an interview setting. This interactive session will help students learn about different types of interviews (in-person, phone, Skype, group, etc) and how to effectively handle each one. We will also discuss the power in story telling and provide an effective formula to help your story stay on track. This session is intended to be fun and provide students with an opportunity to practice!

Facebook has three available externship programs available for undergraduates and graduate students. Take the time to read through the flyers if this sparks your interest.
Countering Violent Extremism Fellowship: 2015-2017
Deadline to apply: November 10 at 9 am

This amazing opportunity has been made available for University of Maryland students enrolled in their Sophomore year in the 2014-2015 school year. The program is designed to transition students from their undergrad experience to professional positions in homeland security science and technology arena (HS-STEM).

Throughout the semesters, Booz Allen Hamilton provides webinars for career services professionals to learn about internship and full-time opportunities for students.  
M. Louise Tate Internship Grants
Deadline to apply for Spring 2015 semester: November 18, 2014
The program povides $1000 stipend to students that will be working unpaid internships a D.C. area organization or Congressman in their aims to become involved in the political process.
