Department of Homeland Security (DHS)- Contract Specialists (full-time position)
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is recruiting candidates for the Acquisition Professional Career Program (APCP) for Contract Specialists, an entry-level acquisition career development program in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. DHS Components work collectively to prevent terrorism, secure borders, enforce and administer immigration laws, safeguard cyberspace and ensure resilience to disasters. The vitality and magnitude of this mission is achieved by a diverse workforce spanning hundreds of occupations, including this opportunity as a Contract Specialist.
We are seeking intelligent and energetic candidates to participate in the Acquisition Professional Career Program. The major duties include:
- Reviewing requisitions to determine that proper specifications/purchase descriptions are included in solicitation documents.
- Evaluating bids or proposals for compliance with specifications/purchase descriptions and applicable clauses.
- Administering previously negotiated and formally advertised contracts;
- Monitoring progress of contractors; participating with higher level specialists in procurements using formal advertisement.
- Participating as a team member on an Acquisition Management Review Team or an equivalent assignment.
DHS has several openings for Acquisition Professional Career Contract Specialist, GS-1102-7, positions. Candidates that gain entry into the program will experience rotational assignments in the Department’s acquisition program offices, such as: U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Transportation Security Administration. In addition, program participants will developed into trained and experienced acquisition professionals. This position has promotion potential to a GS-1102-12.
