Please join us for an upcoming
panel discussion featuring Peter T. Leeson, Duncan Black Professor of Law and
Economics at George Mason University, and his new book Anarchy Unbound:
Why Self-Government Works Better Than You Think hosted by the F.A.
Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the
Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Date:
Thursday, August 28, 2014
Time:
2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Location:
George Mason University,
Fairfax Campus
Johnson Center Cinema
In this book, Professor Leeson
uses rational choice theory to explore the benefits of self-governance. Relying
on experience from the past and present, this book provides evidence of anarchy
“working” where it is least expected to do so and explains how this is
possible. Anarchy Unbound challenges conventional self-governance wisdom
by showcasing the incredible ingenuity of private individuals to secure social
cooperation without government.
We will be pleased to hear from
the author, Peter Leeson, as well as chair, University Professor of
Economics and Philosophy at George Mason University Peter Boettke, and
commenters, Barak Richman, Edgar P. and Elizabeth C. Bartlett Professor
of Law at Duke University, and John Hasnas, Associate Professor in the
McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
Although the event is free and open to the public, we
ask that anyone interested in coming to the event RSVP
online.
