LatinoJustice - Next Generation Lideres (NGL) Mentorship Program - Pre law students


Our Next Generation Lideres (NGL) mentorship program partners high school juniors and seniors, undergraduate, and post graduate pre-law students with practicing attorneys. They are required to meet monthly either in person, video call, phone, etc to build a mentoring relationship. Additionally, we offer monthly group events that have included mock law classes, career panels, and most recently an overcoming obstacles series that focused on mental health and disability, contacts with the justice system, and coming in June, immigration status.

Bright Futures Scholarship Application Deadline EXTENDED to Friday, May 14th


DEADLINE EXTENDED:
Bright Futures Application Deadline
is Now Fri, May 14, 2021
The Bright Futures Initiative awards students with 
need-based scholarships ranging from $100-$1,000 
to help offset expenses incurred during unpaid internships with non-profit organizations and government agencies.

Deadline to apply: Friday, May 14, 2021

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:

All registered University of Maryland, College Park undergraduate students returning to campus for the fall 2021 semester, who have an internship for summer 2021, are eligible to apply. Graduating seniors (May 2021 & August 2021) are not eligible.

Preference will be given to juniors and seniors graduating in December 2021 and to those who have not previously received an award.
INTERNSHIPS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
  • Unpaid on-campus or off-campus internship with a non-profit or government agency.
  • Offered during the summer and completed by the start of fall semester.
  • Supervised by a professional in the field.

DC Area Schools Early Talent & Internship Fair

The Early Talent & Internship fair is a consortium event, sponsored by American University, University of Maryland, Georgetown University and George Washington University. It provides an end-of-semester opportunity for hiring organizations to connect with current students, graduating seniors and recent alumni from DC Area schools.

Opportunities in Annapolis - Chief of Staff (TIME SENSITIVE) and Internships



Delegate Debra Davis is seeking a new Chief of Staff which will likely be a virtual assignment until later this year.  The start date is late July or early August. Interviews will be starting soon, so interested candidates should apply as soon as possible. The job announcement is attached here and also posted in C4T: ID# 223886.

The last bullet in the description suggests there will also be two internship opportunities with Delegate Davis starting in January so interested students should inquire about those as well.

MPFA Student Scholarship Awards

SCHOLARSHIPS OF UP TO $2,000 AVAILABLE FOR 2021-2022!

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 5:00 PM ON FRIDAY, MAY 7.

Applications are being accepted for the Maryland Parent & Family Association Student Scholarship Awards. The scholarships provide assistance to current undergraduate students in good standing who may be unable to continue their education at the University due to extenuating personal or family financial circumstances. A minimum of 15 scholarships will be awarded for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Award criteria, instructions, and an online application can be found at https://terpfamily.umd.edu/mpfa-student-scholarship-award. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021.
