CyberCorps: Scholarship for Students (SFS) Application OPEN

 The ACES (Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students) program has opened applications for the 2024 CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) scholarship.

Applications are due June 30, 2024.

The CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) program, seeks to encourage cybersecurity education and workforce development. In partnership with the National Science Foundation, ACES provides scholarships for students who commit to working for Federal, State, Local or Tribal governmental organizations after graduation.

This scholarship covers full tuition and fees at UMD for two or three years and provides funds for course materials, and professional development, as well as an annual stipend for living expenses ($27,000 per year for undergraduates.) Upon graduation, students commit to working for a Federal, State, Local, or Tribal government organization in a cybersecurity related for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.

Students must be enrolled in the ACES Minor in order to receive the SFS scholarship. Additional information can be found on the ACES website

Smith Minor Applications OPEN until Feb. 19th

The Smith Business Minor applications are open for students now until February 19th @11:59pm. 

Students can choose a business minor in Business Analytics, Computational Finance, General Business, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. 

Interested students can register for an info session and apply at go.umd.edu/smithminors.

ACES Minor application is now open!

 The ACES Minor has opened applications for the 2023-2024 academic year!

The ACES Minor is a 16-credit academic minor open to students of all majors, who have achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA, have completed 30 university credits, and have at least three semesters remaining at UMD, post-Fall 2023.

Students gain practical skills in cybersecurity through technical and non-technical coursework, group projects, internships and research opportunities. 

This curriculum is bolstered by regular interactions with cybersecurity industry leaders both in the private and public sector who serve as mentors and professional networks for ACES Minor students.

The ACES Minor is also an Upper Level Concentration for Computer Science students!

Students can submit the application via the ACES website at aces.umd.edu. Applications are due October 25, 2023 (extended from Oct 22.)

(Please note that the ACES minor is now on a yearly application cycle; unlike previous years, there will NOT be a Spring application period.)
