OMNI Research Fellowship Program

The OMNI fellowship program is designed for recent undergraduates with a BA or BS degree, some exposure to social science research, and a career interest in social impact. This remote social science research fellowship is a two-year program, beginning on June 3, 2024 and ending on June 27, 2026

Research Fellows are full-time employees who will receive an annual salary of $50,000 and the full benefits package that they offer to all staff. OMNI strongly encourages students identifying as people of color, LGBTQ+, first-generation college-goers, or low-income backgrounds to apply for this position. This position is fully remote. 

The application and hiring period for the Research Fellows program opened in February 2024, and fellows will join the OMNI Institute on June 3, 2024.

Roger Arliner Young Diversity Fellowship Program in Renewable Energy

The Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Fellowship aims to increase and facilitate conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy-related career pathways for emerging leaders of color. 

The Program is a two-year paid fellowship designed to equip recent college graduates with the tools, experiences, support, and community they need to become leaders in the conservation and clean energy sectors—one that fully represents, includes, and is led by the diverse communities, perspectives, and experiences of the United States.

Staff Assistant, Rep. Kweisi Mfume , Capitol Hill Jobs 

The Staff Assistant greets and screens visitors; responds to constituent requests for information; maintains handout literature regarding the district and the House; hosts Capitol tours; and performs general administrative duties, including answering the telephone and answering constituent requests for general information, tours, and other inquiries. This position also monitors delivery and pickup of materials, maintains the front office, and assists with other various administrative and legislative duties. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS REQUIRED: 
Answers and screens telephone calls for the Member and other staff members and takes messages; Greets and screens visitors;
Assists persons who have appointments with the Member or the staff and works closely with the Member's Scheduler to ensure that the Member's appointments are on time and that the Scheduler is aware of the visitor's arrival;
Responds to constituent requests for flags, tours, and other information;
Maintains literature regarding the district and House offices for distribution to visitors; Manages recycling functions for the office;
Orders supplies for the office;
Signs for deliveries and forwards all materials delivered to the office to appropriate staff members in a timely manner;
Maintains the office answering machine or voice mail;
Ensures that requests for assistance are directed to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner;
Documents visitor opinions, including full name, address, and all relevant information;
Logs in mail;
Tracks library books from the Library of Congress;
Manage and maintain office supplies and common areas;
Performs general administrative assignments;
Sends, receives, and distributes materials;
Maintains a good working relationship with the Member, staff, and constituents;
Accepts performance-based criticism and direction;
Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner;
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
Meets attendance requirements as established by the office;
Works well under pressure and handles stress;
Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, and weekends;
and Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of front office experience. 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 
Ability to use and troubleshoot photocopier, facsimile machine, telephone, and other office equipment;
Excellent organizational and proofreading skills;
Ability to perform essential job functions above;
Professional telephone manner;
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures;
Knowledge of computer applications including high proficiency in typing and Microsoft Word, Power Point, Access, Excel, and social media. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
Work is mainly performed in an office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate; and Ability to work in a small workstation without an expectation of privacy. This position requires an incredible attention to detail.

Join this session to learn about the OECD and The Young Associates Programme (YAP). This two-year programme is for recent undergraduates who wish to gain a significant first professional experience in the world of multilateral policymaking, research and analysis. It is designed to act as a springboard to target future postgraduate study at top-ranked universities. Note that U.S. and non-U.S. citizens (who are nationals of OECD member countries) are eligible to apply.
 
About OECD:
Our work promotes policies to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The OECD brings together governments, members of parliament, businesses, community leaders, civil organisations and academics to seek solutions to common problems, develop global standards, share experiences and identify best practices in a collaborative effort towards -- better policies for better lives. BOREN SCHOLARSHIPS - Study Abroad for Critical Languages

Are you currently studying, or strongly interested in studying a language critical to US national interests? Are you strongly interested in US government service?


The Boren Scholarship offers undergraduates up to $20,000 for long-term (two semesters; one for STEM majors) study abroad focused on learning critical languages. US Citizenship is required.


Eligible regions include Africa, South Asia, East and Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and former Soviet Republics, Latin America (esp. for Portuguese), and the Middle East. (Boren Scholarships MAY NOT be used for study in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.) Boren Scholarships may be used for study abroad in Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023.

Job Posting – Empirical Research Fellow at Stanford Law School

RESEARCH FELLOW, STANFORD LAW SCHOOL (Fixed term) *multi-job posting

Commitment:

Full-time, starting Summer 2022. Some applicants available to start earlier will also be considered. Fellowships last for one year, with an option to renew for a second year by mutual agreement of the professor and the fellow.


Description:

Assist with the research of Professors John J. Donohue, Jacob Goldin, Daniel Ho, Daniel Kessler, and Alison Morantz atStanford Law School. Designed for graduating seniors or recent college or master’s program graduates, the fellowship provides a unique opportunity for those considering graduate school, law school, and/or business school in the future.


Prior Research Fellows have matriculated to Ph.D. programs at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Princeton, Columbia, and NYU and law school at Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Columbia. They have been drawn from a variety of undergraduate disciplines, including economics, political science, applied math, public policy, statistics, and computer science.


Successful applicants will be matched with a specific professor based on background and interests. As full-time Stanford University employees, fellows will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, access to campus athletic and academic facilities (to the extent that any ongoing pandemic restrictions allow), paid

vacation time, professional development funds, and the capacity to audit Stanford courses and attend on-campus lectures and seminars free of charge.


Job responsibilities will vary by position, but involve all aspects of the research process including:

  • Conceptualization of suitable empirical methodologies and models
  • Collecting, managing, and structuring quantitative datasets
  • Statistical analyses of complex datasets and interpretation of results
  • Communication with government officials, industry stakeholders, and research collaborators
  • Report writing and manuscript preparation


Job qualifications:

  • Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, political science, computer science, statistics, or applied math
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the social sciences or another relevant field
  • Outstanding academic credentials and intellectual creativity
  • Eagerness to take initiative and solve intricate problems
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional research and analytical writing skills
  • Programming experience in R, Python, Stata, SAS, and/or other languages is strongly preferred
  • Prior research experience and coursework in the empirical social sciences is preferred, but not required

The deadline for the second round will be decided in late October, depending on the needs of the program. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and preference will be given to first-round applicants.
