Cornell International Affairs Review - Spring 2023 Manuscript Submissions

The Cornell International Affairs Review is now seeking manuscript submissions for our Spring 2023 issue. We are a student-run, peer-reviewed, and biannually published academic journal at Cornell University dedicated to publishing undergraduate, postgraduate, and expert scholarship on contemporary international affairs.

The Review seeks to curate papers that present original research and demonstrate novel arguments or interpretive approaches. Papers should preferably address events and trends that are not well-established in current scholarship, yet have immediate global relevance and engage a broader and more diverse audience beyond the traditional academic sphere. We welcome submissions from any relevant field of study and particularly encourage papers that seek to address historically underrepresented demographics, as well as lesser-studied regions, trends, and events. We also heavily encourage the submission of papers that utilize non-English language secondary scholarship or primary source research.

Please read our submission requirements on our website before submitting, or see the attached document. Manuscripts must, among other things, be original research papers between 8,000 to 15,000 words in length and written in English, and pertain to an aspect of contemporary international affairs and international relations without substantially addressing current events. Our final submission deadline is March 14th, 2023. Note that papers that do not comply with the requirements will be summarily rejected. We look forward to receiving and reviewing your submission.

ARE YOU AN UNDERGRADUATE INTERESTED IN EXPLORING RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES FOR FALL 2021 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND?

The Maryland Student Researchers (MSR) program maintains a University-wide database where UMD researchers post research opportunities for undergraduate students. It is a great way for undergraduates to learn about the rewards and challenges of academic research. Nearly 200 projects are available this Fall 2021 with more being added so check back regularly over the next several weeks.

To review the Maryland Student Researchers database with nearly 200 available opportunities (more added daily) by clicking here (Links to an external site.).

You can also register for NEXT WEEK'S info sessions about using the MSR database and other ways to find research opportunities:

Click here to register for Wednesday, Sept. 1at 3:30 PM

Click here to register for Thursday, Sept. 2 at 10:00 AM

Click here to register for Friday, Sept. 3 at 12:00 PM

Click here to register for Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 1:00 PM

**One of these sessions will be recorded and available on our ELMS resource site for undergraduate research. To gain access to this ELMS resource, please click here to complete a brief questionnaire. (Links to an external site.)**

The MSR bulletin board is designed to help undergraduates find research opportunities that are a good fit for their interests and qualifications, and to help faculty members find students to assist with their research project(s). The research opportunities posted on the MSR website typically call for students to spend around six hours a week working under the direction of a faculty mentor on that faculty member’s own research.  Participating students learn skills and gain valuable experience that will enhance their graduate school and job qualifications. Many positions are for volunteers, some are paid.

ELIGIBILITY: Any student in good academic standing may apply directly for any listed opportunities for which they have the listed required skills.  It is open to undergraduates of all majors and disciplines with an interest in research. Many positions are offered on a volunteer basis, and selection of undergraduate researchers is made solely by the faculty members who provide the listed opportunities.
