Fullbright ZOOM Information Sessions

ATTENTION undergrads and recent alumni: Are you interested in pursuing prestigious international study/research or English teaching opportunities after graduation?

Attend a ZOOM info session to learn about the US State Department's Fulbright Grant Program, the nation’s largest and most prestigious global fellowship!

 

Fulbright awards provide recent alumni and upcoming college graduates (who are also US citizens) with grants for international experiences, personal enrichment and an open exchange of ideas with citizens of other nations. About 2000 Fulbright fully-funded grants are currently available to over 150 nations. 


There are three types of grant: research awards for students who wish to investigate timely and significant topics abroad, study awards for students who wish to pursue graduate studies abroad; and English Teaching Assistantships. For detailed information please visit the Fulbright US Student Program website at: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html

Summer 2023 Research Opportunities in CANADA - for Rising JUNIORS

 The Fulbright Canada- Mitacs Globalink internship program that will allow exceptional U.S. undergraduate students to do an internship in Canada during the 2023 summer semester.

  

This program will provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to be part of a 10 to 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in various academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.

 

Mitacs, our partner in this initiative, is a federally funded, national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for some 20 years. Working with 70 universities, 6,000 companies, and both federal and provincial governments, support industrial and social innovation in Canada. 

 

Applications will open the first week of August, 2022, and the deadline is September 20, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST.

Program Summary

  • U.S. undergraduate students will come to Canada to undertake advanced research projects.
  • Projects will cover a broad cross-section of research topics, including most academic disciplines.
  • Students will spend 10 to 12 weeks (May-August) in Canada on a research project in their area of interest.
  • Students will be placed at a Canadian university and undertake a supervised research project.
  • Students will have extensive opportunities for cultural, social, and recreational experiences.

 Eligibility

Participants in this program must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited university located in the United States ;
  • Be a United States citizen, and hold a valid U.S. passport;
  • Have at least one semester remaining in their program of study as of Fall 2023 (this program is not suitable for 1st-year NOR last year students);
  • Have a competitive grade point average;
  • Be available to spend between 10 to 12 weeks in Canada between May and August;
  • Apply by September 20, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST

Ideal candidates will have finished their third year in the year they are doing their internship;

  • a completed application online form;
  • unofficial transcripts from their home university or college;

  • a one-page personal statement- no final project needs to be identified.

The program is highly competitive. Students will be evaluated on a combination of factors, including:

  • record of academic achievement, personal statement, current skills and interests, fit to program, letters of recommendation

2022 Fulbright UK Summer Institutes

 Fulbright UK Summer Institutes for Freshmen and Sophomores (U.S. citizens)

The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers special Summer Institutes for U.S. citizens to study in the UK. These expenses-paid summer programs provide the opportunity for U.S. undergraduates (U.S. citizens, aged over 18, see eligibility details below), with at least two years of undergraduate study left to complete, to come to participate in a three or four week academic and cultural summer program.

Participants in these programs will get the opportunity to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK and develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research and communication skills.

Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens;
  • have a GPA of 3.7 or higher; 
  • be 18 or older; 
  • be a second or first year student, and/or have at least two years of undergraduate study remaining after the Institute finishes;
  • cannot have spent more than 4 weeks outside the U.S. in the last 5 years. Exceptions are made for refugees and/or students from a different cultural background who have spent time abroad due to family emergencies.
The Summer Institutes will cover the majority of participant costs. This includes round-trip airfare from the US to the UK, tuition and fees at the host university/institution, accommodation and meals and in some cases a small daily allowance.

Please note: First-generation college students and students who receive or are eligible for need-based aid are encouraged to apply.
