 Maryland General Assembly (MGA) Information Session!

Come learn about Internships with the MGA! The event features Emily Shetty, Maryland State Delegate; Molly McKee-Seabrook, UMD’s Associate Director of Government Relations; and a student panel of former MGA interns. Light refreshments will be served. Open to all majors!

Speaker Bios:


Delegate Emily Shetty has spent her career in public service and advocacy, starting with serving as a legislative aide to a Member of Congress from Brooklyn, NY. She is currently a member of the Maryland General Assembly, serving in her second term, where she is the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Social Services, and the Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Houses Delegation. Shetty teaches the UMD Fellow Program's Civic Leadership and Human Services Seminar. Shetty has been active in local advocacy and organizing for over ten years. She served as the Vice-chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party, founded the Advocacy Committee within the Woman’s Democratic Club of Montgomery County, and served on the board of Action Committee for Transit, where she advocated for improvements to pedestrian safety and local transportation options.


Molly McKee-Seabrook, Associate Director of Government Relations at UMD. Seabrook worked as a legislative aide for state Sen. Bill Ferguson (D-Baltimore City) before becoming his chief of staff for eight years. In her current position with the University of Maryland she advocates for bills on behalf of the school and the university system.


A Student Panel of UMD Fellows Program Graduate Assistants, Jamal Oakman, Jen Solan, and Adam Cullen will also speak about their experiences interning at MGA.
