Immediate Openings Available Spring 2024 Semester

Semester Internships for Course Credit Hourly requirements, semester deadlines and eligibility vary by college major/department. We encourage students to reach out to their academic advisors and apply as soon as possible. Slots may be limited. Credit hours available and earned may vary. Ficker for U.S. Senate is seeking students from a diverse range of degree programs. For example, your current undergraduate major and future career placement goals after graduation may be in the areas of:

-Business Administration

- Government and Politics

- Communications or Journalism

-Computer Science / Data Analytics / I.T. Jobs

-Public Policy and Legislative Affairs in Washington D.C or Annapolis, MD

-Social Media or Digital Advertising

-Fundraising / Non Profit Development

-and more ...

Sure, volunteering on political campaigns from school board to county commissioner all the way to U.S. President usually involves phone calls, licking envelopes for voter mailings or holding signs for the candidate you support. But, if any of the academic majors or future job sectors (we listed above) apply to you or your employment interests after graduation -- the Ficker for U.S. Senate Campaign will offer an educationally rewarding and career building internship for YOU that will rival any traditional course or elective! Directed Study / Job Shadowing

Note: Subject to your degree program or school guidelines; Students are strongly encouraged to obtain prior approval and coordinate details with their College faculty and staff. Once approved, we will assign you a specific staff contact from our team.

Similar to course credit internships (referenced above), which usually have start/end dates, weekly hourly requirements and position responsibilities on-site at our off campus work offices, any undergraduate or graduate student interested in a Directed Study or Job Shadowing work experience on Ficker for U.S. Senate are encouraged to inquire with their degree programs - tailoring a more flexible semester schedule. Our team will defer to the university and students' weekly availability to create BOTH remote learning times on campus throughout the academic semester, combined with supervised work assignments via Zoom - coupled with special projects or events with delegate responsibilities throughout Maryland. Transportation and Meal reimbursement for any student work assignments or volunteering conducted off campus can be provided.

Our goal is to promote internally throughout 2024. We will work with you individually and with the university on a tailored, cooperative education and meaningful work experience which will include but not limited to relevant staff mentoring, weekly meetings or check-ins with students and the university, and specific job shadowing or volunteer assignments aligned with your current field of study.

2024 Future Part-time Job Openings Anticipated:

1. Paid Canvassing (door to door voter contact and surveys)

2. Week to Week Operations or Projects at Campaign HQ

3. Staffing Major Events (February-May 2024)

4. Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Roles (Spring 2024)

Ficker for U.S. Senate is committed to involving motivated and hard-working students into our organization. As the 2024 election season begins to speed up, we anticipate several, part-time job openings and regularly scheduled paid projects off campus in key counties and locations throughout Maryland. The campaign is open-minded to recruiting and hiring students based on recent academic performance or awards; individuals who can demonstrate their reliability for any volunteer projects they sign up for, and soon to be graduates who may have previous experience or relevant skills needed by our campaign.

Ficker for U.S. Senate will work with Career Services and other University of Maryland offices like the Feller Center on communicating and posting all upcoming job postings.
