Internship with Congressman Sessions (R-TX)
The Washington DC office of Congressman Pete Sessions is currently accepting applications for Fall 2017. Intern responsibilities include researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, answering phones, day to day office duties, and answering constituent messages on various issues before the House of Representatives. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. The hours are flexible, but generally run 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM, although exact hours will fluctuate depending on the work load. America Votes is the coordination hub of the progressive community. We lead collaborative efforts among a diverse coalition of more than 400 state and national partner organizations to advance progressive policies, win elections, and protect every American’s right to vote. Position Description
As a leading progressive organization, America Votes is committed to help mentor the rising stars of the progressive movement. Interns for America Votes will be heavily involved with the day-to-day operations and will learn who America Votes is and how we operate. Our goal is to recruit smart, hardworking interns that will be able to manage in a small, fast paced organization.
Responsibilities:
- Researching election laws at both the state and national level
- Tracking major electoral races
- Working on various state-based projects on voting rights and election laws
- Using sound news judgement to keep up with America Votes and our partners in the news
- Creating content for and managing America Votes’ various social media platforms
- Developing social media campaigns and graphics for America Votes projects and initiatives
- Drafting and editing press releases, media advisories, media briefing and other communications products
- Researching including legislation, press targets and various other assignments
- Copy editing and formatting internal and external products

Adobe Government Relations Internship
The Adobe Public Policy Intern will work on several projects in the Washington, DC area related to the federal government, including Congress. The successful candidate will have exposure to several Congressional offices, the legislative process, how Washington works, and will come out of the internship with contacts to help get them started on developing a public policy network. Washington, DC is a wonderful place to be an intern. The intern ranks are enormous and networking and learning opportunities are everywhere. Students serving as Information and Data Management (IDM) interns work side-by-side with other IDM officers and mission partners to focus on the management of data, information, and knowledge across all Agency equities. Students gain experience working in business areas covering every aspect of the information lifecycle, including: classification, cataloging, storing, maintaining records and information assets, declassification review, public release, privacy and civil liberties protection, and archiving. IDM work is the backbone of mission-critical information delivery throughout CIA.
Depending on assignment, students serve within one of the core offices within Information Management Services while also participating in a range of activities sponsored by Directorate of Digital Innovation (DDI) Student Programs. Students participate in structured team environments and ensure Agency information is managed appropriately throughout the information life cycle. Duties include providing and applying basic guidance on IDM business policies including, but not limited to: archiving; digitization and categorization; Executive Order-mandated classification, declassification, and marking; foreign disclosure; Freedom of Information Act; Privacy Act; records management; and review and release. Students have the opportunity to apply information and data management skills to catalogue, index, search, and retrieve Agency information and demonstrate analytic, diagnostic, and qualitative skills needed to identify, evaluate, and recommend information and data management solutions and strategic plans.
Interns generally are required to work either a combination of one semester and one summer internship or two summer internships. The Law Office of Thomas Woodward is a Washington, DC law firm that exclusively practices immigration law. Although we provide legal assistance to immigrants from all walks of life, the firm was founded with a particular emphasis on promoting international human rights and providing aid to those who have had their rights violated. Many of our clients are seeking asylum from persecution abroad, have been trafficked to the United States, faced parental neglect or abandonment, had crimes committed against them, or were the victims of some other form of injustice. We believe that they all have the right to seek protection in a country that will respect their inalienable human rights.
About the Internship:
Currently we are seeking a part-time bilingual intern to work primarily with Spanish-speaking clients. The primary responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Translating from English to Spanish and vice versa
- Assisting clients with the completion of initial intake forms
- Helping the legal staff to conduct interviews with the clients to gather information and prepare them for USCIS interviews and Immigration Court hearings
- Attending conferences and events with the staff
- Contacting clients to follow up on documents, payments, appointments, and other necessities as instructed by the staff
Please note that many of our clients are victims of human rights abuses, including gender-based violence, torture, arbitrary arrests, and extrajudicial killings of family members and associates. Paid Vibrant Media & the Public Square Internship
The Democracy Fund is seeking highly motivated undergrads, graduate students, and recent graduates from across the political spectrum for internship with our Public Square Program for the Fall 2017 term.
Our Public Square Program focuses on vibrant media and citizen engagement by supporting innovations and institutions that help people better understand and participate in the democratic process. We’re looking for candidates with experience in journalism, communications, and/or civic innovation who are passionate about making our political system more effective.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide logistical support during meetings with reform leaders, political figures, and academic authorities—this may include note-taking, drafting memoranda, proofing and copy editing materials, and welcoming visitors to the Democracy Fund office.
- Research issues in key policy areas relating to the Democracy Fund’s strategic objectives and oversee regular database updates.
- Actively engage with all staff at the Democracy Fund as a capable and collaborative team member. We count on our interns to contribute to policy discussions and help develop solutions to some of the greatest problems our nation faces today.
- Assist in evaluating grantmaking opportunities and with the preparation of internal memoranda and other materials that are part of the grantmaking process.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
