Internship 

Congressman Grijalva is pleased to offer congressional internships to those seeking legislative experience on Capitol Hill. Internship provides a tremendous opportunity to learn about the legislative process and to become more familiar with how our government operates.

Interns in my office will work closely with our legislative and press staff on a variety of issues. In addition to their work with the staff, interns will be asked to perform various administrative tasks that generally include, answering the office phones, opening and distributing mail, and responding to constituent correspondence. Every part of the internship is crucial to the day-to-day functioning of the office.

Internships are available year round and for variable lengths of time. Preference is given to those students and individuals from Arizona’s 7^th Congressional District, though consideration is given to all qualified applicants. Internships are unpaid. Interns will be responsible for all lodging and transportation cost.

Internship Sessions:

Spring: January 15^th - May 7^th 

Summer: June 1^st – August 15^th

Fall: September 1^st – December 7^th

Congressman Raul Grijalva

Congressman Grijalva is serving his 5^th term in the U.S. House of Representatives and regularly receives the top rating for the most progressive member of Congress. He serves on the Committee on Education and Labor and Committee of Natural Resources, of which he is Ranking Member of the National Parks, Forests and Public Lands Subcommittee.

In addition, he plays several leadership roles throughout Congress: he serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and was appointed Senior Whip for the Majority Whip’s Operation.

Congressman Grijalva has been an ongoing advocate for economic justice, the environment, civil liberties and universal health care. In addition he supports redeployment of our troops out of Iraq and return to their families and loved ones. Representing the 300 miles of the U.S. Mexico border, he is a firm supporter of humane comprehensive immigration reform.

We are now accepting applications for the fall and spring internships. Due to delays in mail processing at the U.S. House facilities, all applications must be received via fax or email. To apply for an internship, an applicant must submit the following:

·         A cover letter which includes your interest in this particular office and your availability (dates and hours per week).

·         A resume

·         A short writing sample.
