Fall 2012 National Women's Political Caucus Internship

The National Women's Political Caucus is looking to fill three intern positions for the upcoming Fall 2012 session. All interns should have a minimum of 90 day availability for part or full-time internships.

Characteristics of an ideal candidate:
·         Strong communications, research and writing skills.
·         Independent workers who are proactive and willing to take initiative.
·         Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
·         Desire and Passion for the progress of women's rights and political participation.
·         Strong supporters of Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem and Diet Coke (only kidding!)

We are a multicultural, intergenerational, and multi-issue grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women's participation in the political process and creating a true women's political power base to achieve equality for all women. NWPC recruits, trains, and supports progressive, pro-choice women candidates for elected and appointed offices at all levels of government regardless of party affiliation. We are a membership-based organization and have active chapters in states nationwide. 

Political Planning and Action Intern
·         Research campaign and candidates.
·         Contact candidate campaigns for endorsement process.
·         Develop reports and analysis of candidates and electoral races.
·         Follow current legislative events.

Communications Intern
·         Assist in writing, researching and formatting communications for press releases, bi-monthly newsletters, web sites and blog.
·         Maintain effective communications with State and Local Caucuses.
·         Assist with mailing and e-mail blasts.

Development Intern
·         Assist Director with planning for fundraising events, grant research and sponsor contacts.
·         Participate directly in the continued development of the College Caucus model.
·         Assist with planning of events for DNC, RNC and Exceptional Merit in Media Awards (EMMAs)
