Prince George’s County Police Department Internship

Fall Semester 2014 

The Prince George’s County Police Department is accepting applications for police interns. Interns will work closely with detectives assigned to investigate robberies, violent repeat offenders, motor vehicle theft rings, or homicides. Interns can receive credit for successful completion of this internship. 


Interns Will Receive Hands on Experience in the Follow Areas 

  • Custodial Interrogations / Miranda Warnings / Confession Law 
  • Forensic Investigations Including Finger Prints / DNA Analysis 
  • Search and Seizure / Consent Searches / Search Warrants 
  • Evidentiary Concerns / Suppression Hearings 
  • Firearms Identification / Firearms Processing / Court Testimony 
  • Interviews of Victims / Witnesses / Grand Jury Proceedings 
  • Preparation of Police Reports / Preparation of Cases for Indictment 
  • Under Cover Operations / Surveillance Tactics 
Requirements 

  • Interns will need their own transportation to an office located at 7600 Barlowe Road 
  • Landover, MD 20785 or 5000 Rhode Island Avenue Hyattsville, MD 20785 
  • Interns will be required to work evening shift hours. These hours are between 4 PM 
  • and 2AM (hours and days are flexible) 
  • Interns will assist in the investigation of violent crimes and must understand that they may 
  • See disturbing scenes 
  • Court appearances are not anticipated but may be required in extreme cases 
  • Interns must be Criminal Justice Majors, juniors or seniors, with at least a 2.5 GPA 
  • Interns will be required to pass a national criminal records check 
  • Interns must submit a one page resume and unofficial transcript 
  •  Interns must submit the attached recommendation form signed by a university professor
