Two "Black Professionals in International Affairs" Internship Opportunities

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY ANNCOUNCMENT

Position: FY16 – FALL INTERN (UNPAID)

HOURS: Flexible, projects are deadline-based. You will be expected to attend events (once a month) and general body meetings when attendance is requested.
DUTIES: We’re looking for creative, self-motivated college students or recent graduates to participate in our part-time fall internship program.

  • Updating BPIA website with announcements and resources, assisting with social media as needed
  • Assisting with logistics of events as needed
  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously, communicating and collaborating with a team to come up with design; flexible schedule with deadline based assignments.

REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for students preferably of junior, senior, or graduate level with excellent writing and communication skills and knowledge of computer applications such as Windows 2000, MS Word. Academic majors preferred: Social Sciences, Humanities, International Relations, Political Science, History, Economics, African Diaspora, World Languages, Communication, International Business, and International Finance. Intern must be able to work and think clearly under pressure, show maturity and professionalism, understand and follow directions, as well as plan, organize, prioritize and execute multiple and continuing assignments.

COMPENSATION: Although this is an unpaid internship, we are open to negotiating academic credits with your institution. As a BPIA intern, you will also be granted all BPIA membership perks, receive a letter of recommendation from the organization President, as well as gain professional work experience with a nonprofit. Being involved in BPIA also grants a high level of access to a number of established professionals in International Affairs including government officials, ambassadors, and professionals in international development and business that can potentially serve as mentors’ insight into the field, and may have leads for employment opportunities.

HOURS: Flexible, projects are deadline-based. You will be expected to attend events (once a month) and general body meetings when attendance is requested.
DUTIES: We’re looking for creative, self-motivated college students or recent graduates to participate in our part-time fall internship program.

  • Designing banner ads, email graphics, social media graphics and more, creating various marketing materials
  • Updating BPIA website with announcements and resources, assisting with social media as needed
  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously, communicating and collaborating with a team to come up with design; flexible schedule with deadline based assignments.

REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, basic website development, Joomla CMS website system, posting of announcements on the website. Must be able to work and think clearly under pressure, understand and follow directions, as well as plan, organize, prioritize and execute multiple and continuing assignments.

As Graphics Intern, you will also be granted all BPIA membership perks, receive a letter of recommendation from the BPIA President, as well as credited on the BPIA website for your work that can be added to your portfolio. Being involved in BPIA also grants a high level of access to a number of established professionals that can potentially serve as job opportunities in the future.
