Paid Summer Democracy Fund Internships

The Democracy Fund is looking for diverse voices and expertise from across the political spectrum to join our team.  Created out of a deep respect for the U.S. Constitution and our nation’s core democratic values, we invest in organizations working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. At the heart of our vision for the future are three core commitments: fostering more effective governance in the United States, modernizing our election and campaign finance systems, and strengthening our media to help people understand and participate in the democratic process.The Democracy Fund is recruiting summer interns in these areas:

Communications  Network Internship
We are looking for a smart, creative, and enthusiastic full-time intern to work side-by-side with our Communications & Network team to support the organization’s outreach, network, and branding strategies and to enhance the influence of our grantees and program-related efforts among target audiences during the Summer 2018 term. Interns are an integral part of our team, and are offered an opportunity work on a variety of tasks that are critical to our communications strategy.(college graduate $21/hr or graduate student $25/hr)

Elections Program Internship
The Elections Program focuses on the administration of elections, modern registration, and trust in elections by supporting unbiased research, bipartisan dialogue, and unconventional solutions that will ensure the views and votes of the American public come first in our democracy. We’re looking for candidates with an interest in either election administration, registration modernization, or trust in elections. A successful candidate believes the election system must provide the public with confidence that their voices can be heard and that they have the ability to hold their leaders accountable for their actions.(undergrads and recent graduates $21/hr, graduate students $25/hr)

Governance Program Internship
The Governance Program focuses on principled leadership and effective governance by supporting approaches that help our elected leaders deliberate, negotiate, and serve the American people. Our team is looking for candidates who have a strong understanding about how Congress and other governing institutions function and are passionate about ensuring those institutions work effectively in the face of increasing polarization. (undergrads and recent graduates $21/hr, graduate students $25/hr)

Public Square Program Internship
The Public Square Program focuses on vibrant media and citizen engagement by supporting innovations and institutions that help people better understand and participate in the democratic process. We’re looking for candidates with experience in journalism, communications, and/or civic innovation who are passionate about the future of journalism and making our political system more effective. A successful candidate believes that media plays a critical role in the public square, and believes that all communities should have access to the news and information they need to participate fully in our democracy.  (undergrads and recent graduates $21/hr, graduate students $25/hr)

Strategy, Impact and Learning InternshipThe Strategy, Impact and Learning Team supports Democracy Fund in developing strong organizational and programmatic strategies, evaluating their effectiveness, and facilitating reflection and learning across the organization. Using systems thinking and rigorous inquiry, we strive to ensure that Democracy Fund is making strategic and informed choices that achieve impact. We believe that through experimentation, learning and adaptation Democracy Fund can more effectively support the health and resilience of the American political system.  (undergrads and recent graduates $21/hr, graduate students $25/hr)
