Archival Research Assistant Position

Position: Archival Research Assistant
Location: NARA (College Park, MD)

An international consortium of university researchers is seeking a part-time archival assistant to
conduct work for the digitization project, “Who Became a Nazi? A Structured Database of the
German Denazification Questionnaires, 1945–1949.” The project is sponsored by the Institute
for Advanced Study in Toulouse (University of Toulouse Capitole 1, France). Conditional on the
re-opening of the National Archives and Records Administration, the work will begin in October
2020 and involve the ordering, digitizing, and cataloging of U.S. Military Government de-
Nazification records.

Time Commitment: 20 full workdays (weekdays only); 6 hrs/day (flexible over a three-month
period, October – December 2020)
Hourly wage: ~$11-12 (USD)
Requirements:

  • Graduate student in the Dept. of History or similar program
  • Experience doing archival research
  • Fluency in German is preferred but not required
  • Smartphone or other mobile device capable of capturing a large number (~2,500) of high-
  • quality HDR images (e.g. iPhone 11)
