MGA Constituency Services Position

 
POSITION OPENING: CONSTITUENT LIAISON
Delegate Dana Stein, District 11B, Baltimore County, is looking for someone with an interest in
constituent service to join his staff on a year-round, part-time basis. This position involves responding to constituent emails and phone calls; assisting with the development of constituent communications,
including highlighting community events, spotlighting district stories and resources, and sharing vital and timely state government-related information. The Constituent Liaison position will report to the
Legislative Director and the Delegate.

Position Title: Constituent Liaison
Job Type: Contractual Part-time, year-round: 3 days during session (January-April) and 2 days during the interim (April-January)
Work Location: In-person during session (January–April); flexible during interim
Salary: Commensurate with experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Respond to constituent concerns through email and voicemail and assist constituents with state
and local agencies.
• Use MGA’s new software, IndiGov, to track constituent communications and update constituent
databases on a regular basis.
• Engage and respond professionally to a broad range of constituents and community stakeholders,
providing personable and timely responses.
• Attend occasional virtual and in-person meetings and hearings, taking detailed notes to share.
• Collaborate with team members, including interns and other District 11 staff.
• Collaborate with team members to gather relevant information for and draft bi/monthly newsletter.
• Draft professional letters, correspondence, and email responses.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Strong writing skills and experience: ability to use social media, including Facebook and creating
electronic newsletters; ability to translate complicated topics/policy into easy-to-understand
information.
• Detail oriented, with strong project management and organizational skills.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Comfortable in social situations and confident working with a diverse group of individuals and
communities.
• Creative problem solver with a positive attitude and eager to learn.
• Knowledge of the legislative process in general and in Baltimore County and Maryland a plus but
not required.
