Community Liason Internship Opportunity with Delegate Alonzo Washington


Location: Prince George’s County, MD

Maryland State Delegate seeks a highly motivated, responsible, outgoing and creative individual interested in getting involved in local and state government.

This is an excellent networking opportunity and a great way to learn about the political process. Candidates should be well organized, with the ability to multitask and work independently.

This position is part-time in the evening with some weekends for a total of 10-15 hours a week. College credit and a small hourly stipend are available.
The internship would preferably last from late May to August. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Cultivate relationships with community leaders, activist, and county agency officials.
-Organize community and outreach events.
-Brief the Delegate on eminent community concerns.
-Maintain and manage constituent database.
-Inform constituents about important policy issues

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
-Excellent writing skills and experience.
-A commitment to accuracy and details is essential
-Versatile self-starter, with strong intellect and total reliability.
-Strategic and organizational skills.
-Web knowledge and tech savvy.
-Commitment to team work.
-Familiarity with word processing, database programs, internet
research, and spreadsheet programs.
