Senator Coons' Washington D.C. Summer Internships - Applications Now Open

U.S. Senator Chris Coons’ DC Office will be offering two programs: a summer legislative internship, as well as a summer communications internship. Both will run May to early August. Any students enthusiastic and passionate about governance and policy are encouraged to apply. You are welcome to post within your department or share with any prospective candidates and both applications have already been posted on Handshake. Financial assistance will be available. Both applications close on April 2nd.
  
Washington, D.C. Legislative Program, Summer 2023:
The Office of Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) seeks interns for his office in Washington, DC for summer of 2023. Responsibilities include answering phones, sorting mail, handling requests for flags and tours, and assisting legislative staff in research. Internship positions are full or part time. This position requires outstanding organizational abilities, strong communication skills, attention to detail, poise, flexibility, and an ability to prioritize in an extremely fast-paced office. Motivated, hard-working, and professional applicants looking to get a taste of Capitol Hill are encouraged to apply.

Washington, D.C. Press Program, Summer 2023:
U.S. Senator Chris Coons’ Washington, D.C. office is seeking applicants for a full-time or part-time communications internship for summer 2023. Tasks will include tracking media clips, editing video/photo/audio, drafting press releases, and assisting members of the communications team with a wide range of projects. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students or recent graduates who can work at least 20 hours a week from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Prior internship experience in media, campaigns, or government is preferred.  Experience with digital communications – including work with graphics and photo and video editing – is also strongly preferred.
Our office offers paid internships to applicants with demonstrated financial need. Those who are interested in and eligible to receive a paid internship are required to submit additional application materials to help determine their financial need. The internship will run from January to May. Delaware ties are preferred.
