MW........ 2:00pm- 3:15pm (JMZ 1120)
This course is a seminar-like, research-oriented class that brings together theoretical and empirical insights from International Macroeconomics to study financial crises and their connection with the globalization of capital markets. We focus in particular on the capital markets crises that have affected many countries since the mid 1990s, the "global imbalances" phenomenon characterized by the large external deficits that the United States has built up over the last two decades, and the ongoing global financial crisis that started with the U.S. crash in 2008 and continues today with the looming sovereign debt crises in the Eurozone and the United States.
