This field focuses on providing interns with the ability to experience government on the state and local level. Interns have to chance to work with delegates and state senators in the Maryland General Assembly, or work with state and county attorney generals. Internships in this area provide students with the skills to understand the lower levels of government.

Founded in 1983, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is an independent voluntary political organization organized to support Democratic governors and candidates across the nation. As the only organization dedicated to electing Democratic governors and candidates, the DGA participates at all levels of campaigns, from providing resources to fund operations to helping articulate and deliver their messages. The State’s Attorney serves as the chief prosecutor in Montgomery County, Maryland, whose main responsibility is the investigation and prosecution of criminal defendants.
